Fidelity Bank Interacts with Mothers of Children with Disabilities on Valentine’s Day
In a heartwarming gesture, Fidelity Bank Ghana’s Accra East Sector dedicated their Valentine’s Day morning to interacting with mothers of children with disabilities. Drawn from various support groups, these mothers shared their experiences and advocated for greater support systems.
Mrs. Hannah Awadzi, Executive Director of the Special Mothers Project and event chair, applauded Fidelity Bank’s initiative. She encouraged the bank to further involve themselves in disability issues. She highlighted the diverse needs of children with conditions like cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and Tourette syndrome.
Several mothers emphasized the need for support from corporate institutions like Fidelity Bank. They appealed to Fidelity Bank to support children with disabilities with support systems like dedicated daycare centers or respite homes. They also appealed to the Bank to advocate for policies promoting better lives for affected families, acknowledging the challenges these mothers face in balancing care and work.
Ms. Lila Daisy Hagan, Branch Sales & Service Manager at the Ridge Towers branch, explained their corporate social Responsibility (CSR) driven focus on mothers of children with disabilities. Recognizing their often-overlooked struggles, Fidelity Bank aimed to offer a meaningful Valentine’s Day experience to them.
Beyond the interaction, Fidelity Bank staff treated the mothers to a delicious meal and gift parcels. The Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), coordinated the event and expressed their gratitude, and encouraged other corporate entities to emulate such initiatives by Fidelity Bank.
