National President of GFD Visits Kasena Nankana West District, Assesses Impact of Social Interventions

The National President of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) Mr. Joseph Atsu Homadzi conducted a monitoring visit to the Kasena Nankana West District in the Upper East Region on Friday, August 9, 2024. The visit was focused on assessing the impact of government social interventions on Persons with Disabilities in the area.
During his visit, Mr Atsu held a productive meeting with the District Chief Executive and members of the District Coordination Council. The discussions centered around evaluating the effectiveness of various government programs aimed at improving the lives of persons with disabilities in the district.
Following the official engagements, Mr Atsu and his team took the opportunity to explore some of the district’s notable attractions. Their tour included a visit to one of the famous crocodile ponds in Paga township and a stop at the Ghana-Burkina Faso border.
At the crocodile pond, Mr Atsu engaged with a tour guide who is a Person with Physical disability. He took this opportunity to interact not only with the guide but also with the pond’s renowned friendly reptiles.
Reflecting on his trip, the GFD president described his visit to the Upper East region as “a historic first experience in his lifetime.” This statement underscores the significance of the visit both for the President personally and for the region’s disability community.
The President’s visit highlights the GFD’s commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of Persons with Disabilities across all regions of Ghana.
